Maldivian Fisherman Show Off Their Incredible Skills & Sustainability

Published September 02, 2009 @ 05:13AM PT

Over a dozen men hauling scores of fish onto the back of a boat makes for a great sustainable food project, and an incredible video: "Catching Fish, Maldivan Style" (also embedded below). Greenpeace present the video report on Fish4Ever who sell fish that are caught in a sustainable way, canned with organic ingredients, and sold at a competitive price. Compared to using destructive, unsustainable and often illegal industrial fishing, the tiny additional cost is worth it to empower local fisherman who fish in an age old way, whilst demonstrating a range of modern sustainability practices. From sustaining local communities, to sustaining the fish, to sustaining the land, it's no wonder Greenpeace chose to promote this business, I'll certainly be giving them my custom and actively seeking out their products.
