From CSPI's NANA Coalition website:

http://www.cspinet.org/nutritionpolicy/nana.html

"The National Alliance for Nutrition and Activity (NANA) advocates national policies and programs to promote healthy eating and physical activity to help reduce the illnesses, disabilities, premature deaths, and costs caused by diet- and inactivity-related diseases such as heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.

NANA promotes within the legislative and executive branches of government a better understanding of the importance of healthy eating, physical activity, and obesity control to the nation's health and health-care costs. One of the primary goals of NANA is to cultivate champions for nutrition, physical activity, and obesity prevention in Congress and federal agencies. Efforts include supporting effective education programs, advocating adequate funding for programs, and promoting environmental changes that help Americans eat better and be more active."

----------------------------------------------------

Nutritional advoacy is a noble cause, but when food industry front groups act as steering committee members of your nutritional advocacy coalition, then your coalition becomes compromised by organizations which put the almighty dollar ahead of the health and welfare of the general public.

One of the members of CSPI's NANA Coalition is the American Dietetic Association. According to some research I have done over the past two weeks, I have discovered that the ADA (American Dietetic Association) is a front group for the food industry. Among the various funders of the ADA include:

*National Cattlemen's Beef Association

*National Dairy Council

*Kellogg's

*ConAgra

Taken from http://www.cspinet.org/integrity/nonprofits/american_dietetic_association.html

Funders of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association include:

*Monsanto

*Cargill

*Dow AgroSciences (subsidiary of Dow Chemical)

*Kraft/Oscar Mayer Foods

*Tyson Foods

*Wendy's

*McDonald's

In addition, today I found out that Dr. Cynthia Goody (McDonald’s Director of Nutrition) and Julia Braun (McDonald’s U.S. Nutrition and Labeling Manager) are members of the American Dietetic Association. The American Dietetic Association is a direct 100% McDonald's front group.

In addition, the American Dietetic Association is also partly-funded by Coca-Cola which is now being sued by CSPI for false health claims over its VitaminWater product.

Finally, the ADA is partly-funded by Kellogg's which has recently been "threatened" by CSPI for using food dyes in its foods.

I applaud Dr. Michael Jacobson for taking a stand against McDonald's seducing innocent children with Happy Meal toys and using Happy Meal toys to persuade innocent kids into eating toxic food full of high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, and monosodium glutamate, and I applaud Dr. Jacobson for taking Coca-Cola to task over false health claims over VitaminWater. However, I find it hypocritical for Jacobson to allow a known front group for Kellogg's, McDonald's, AND Coca-Cola - the American Dietetic Association - to be a steering committee member of CSPI's NANA Coalition.

Sign this petition and let Dr. Michael Jacobson know that you want the American Dietetic Association kicked out of the NANA Coalition and that a food industry front group funded by international death merchants has no business belonging to a nutritional advocacy coalition!
